Outcomes: |
- Students should be knowledgeable about current and recent
serious games in a broad range of application areas,
including education, training, health, advertising,
political/social issues and research.
- Students should be capable of reading and understanding
current scientific literature on serious games, including
their design and evaluation.
- Students should be able to participate effectively as
artists, designers or implementors in interdisciplinary
teams to develop serious games.

Objectives: |
- Students will view and discuss in class videos of current
and recent serious games in a broad range of application
areas.
- Students will read and discuss in class selected content
from recent articles and books about the development of
serious games.
- Students will play and discuss at least 20 serious games
in different application areas.
- Each student will play in depth at least two serious
games in different application areas, and then write and
present in class a detailed analysis of each game.
- Each student will read and participate in class discussion
of least eight scientific papers on serious games, including
their design and evaluation.
- Each student will read, present and lead class discussion of
a scientific paper on serious games.
- Each student will participate in a small team to assess
the need for a serious game in an application area of
their choice, produce a concept document, and implement a
paper or media prototype for the game.
