The goal of this homework is to design and implement a scene of moving animals on a terrain in 3D Studio using the objects (and perhaps multiple variants on them) from Project 4. It should last at least 30 seconds and include the effects listed below. Other objects involved in the animation may be of your own creation or may be commercially made or public domain models. You may work either individually or in pairs. You may include a sound track if you wish, though it will not necessarily improve your grade.
The animation must contain a number of effects, including:
Requirements:
The homework is due at midnight on Tuesday, May 3.
For this project you should do your implementation using 3D Studio. The output file should be generated using the following settings.
You will submit a zip file containing
A .max file containing your 3DS scene and animation.
A 30 second (or more) .avi file showing your animation.
The README file should contain an extensive description of what you are handing in, the layout of your scene, and a discussion of the motions taken by the objects in the scene. Also, if the project was implemented by more than one student, please indicate all students involved in the work. This README file will count towards your grade. Submissions without a README or submissions with a worthless README will not be graded and given 0 points.
Submittal will be made via myWPI or via a CD. Please make sure the filename contains your name or the name of your partner (if performed as a team).
Each homework assignment is graded on a 10 point scale 6 points will be graded for functionality: the program does what the assignment requests. 2 points will be based on documentation in the README, and 2 points will be based on the quality of your design and coding style. Click here for details on the grading policy. This homework is worth 30% of your homework grade.
This assignment will not be accepted after midnight on May 3, as we need to finalize the grades within a couple days of the end of the term.
Since a grade of 0 will be given if the file does not load into 3DS or run, it is in your best interest not to submit anything until you have completely tested and evaluated what you have written.
