System Evaluation

Maintainability

How difficult is it to maintain and update the system?

Discussion. Maintainability refers to two aspects: robustness and facilities for extension. Maintenance is greatly facilitated by a well developed error handling system, allowing the user to understand the causes of failure. Extension possibilities become important as the users attempt to enlarge the domain of use of the system. Sometimes this amounts just to additional knowledge, but in some cases it necessitates interfacing with new systems.
