Have the results been validated in real-life applications?
Are the results accurate?

Discussion. The most important test for design systems is to verify whether their capabilities scale up to real-life design problems. The quality of the solution produced by the system is the main criterion. At the same time tests should target the behavior in limit situations, where the system possesses insufficient knowledge to deal with a particular problem. Graceful degradation of performance is highly desirable in such cases. Robustness in use is vital if the system is made available to persons other than the developers.
