Assumptions

Is the design problem based on a limiting/simplifying set of assumptions?

e.g., no friction, no mass, etc.

Discussion. Some design problem types are extremely difficult to solve if one takes into account all the phenomena which describe them [Addanki et al. 1989]. Introducing carefully selected assumptions that limit these phenomena, or simplify them, allows the system to use efficient problem-solving methods while generating results which are sufficiently close to the real life case.
