Autonomy

Is the system an autonomous design tool?

e.g., completely autonomous, needs the user intervention in some cases, supports the user in solving some problems, etc.

Discussion. Some design systems are completely independent tools. They develop a design starting from the initial specifications, using various types of knowledge, without needing any assistance from the outside. Other systems are semi-autonomous, requiring the user to intervene in some decisions. An even ``weaker'' category of systems are those that do not carry out full design tasks, but rather assist the user in some phase of the design.
