Savannah Deathmatch: Lion v. Gazelle 2: This Time It's A Cheetah Savannah Deathmatch is a life-or-death game of tag... for keeps! Drama unfolds on the blistering savannah as a starving cheetah races in hot pursuit of her meal- a tasty, succulent, and fast Thomson's Gazelle. In this game, one player plays a cheetah that only has a few minutes of life left to chase down her prey before she dies of starvation. The other player plays the prey, an aged but still healthy Thomson's Gazelle that has a few tricks up his sleeve. His goal run from the cheetah in order to not become today's breakfast. This game is currently intended to be one-on-one multiplayer only. In the current build of Savannah Deathmatch, multiplayer is not working. Thus, we have combined the control schemes of the cheetah and the gazelle into a single player adaptation, where the player may switch between control schemes at will while exploring the environment of the blistering savannah. To run the game: - Double-click C4.exe - Select "Start New Game" from the menu - Select "Savannah" from the map list - Click the "Start" button to begin the game CONTROLS The mouse controls the first person camera. There are two different control schemes available to choose from: the cheetah and the gazelle. The default controls are the cheetah's, but you have the option to switch between the cheetah and gazelle control schemes at any point in the game. To select the cheetah control scheme, press 1 To select the gazelle control scheme, press 2 Cheetah Control Scheme: W runs forward A strafes left D strafes right S runs backward Left-clicking causes the cheetah to lunge, giving her extra speed in the direction she is currently accelerating in Space causes the cheetah to jump. You have limited movement control while the cheetah is in the air. Shift makes the cheetah run, jump, and lunge much faster The cheetah can move in 8 directions, but must build up momentum to reach high speeds. Momentum also affects the cheetah's ability to make turns, because although the cheetah can move extremely quickly, it has a hard time making most or any turns. Gazelle Control Scheme: W walks forward A strafes left D strafes right S walks backward Space causes the gazelle to jump. You have no movement control while the gazelle is in the air. The gazelle moves very slowly on the ground, but jumping builds its momentum. When the gazelle lands, it will start losing momentum, so jumping is very important to accelerating and maintaining its speed. ::Jumping:: The faster the gazelle leaps, the higher he leaps. If the gazelle is moving very slowly or is stopped, he leaps straight up into the air. You have no movement control once the gazelle is in the air, so looking before you leap is vital. ::The Hop-Leap Maneuver:: To stop quickly while leaping, release all movement keys while in the air and tap spacebar as the gazelle lands. The gazelle will do a small hop and stop moving. If you tap space after the gazelle lands from this small hop, the gazelle will jump straight up in the air. This hop and jump tactic could be used to jump over a pursuing cheetah and run the other way while it turns around.
