• Reading: Chapters 3, 4, and 5 of Artificial Intelligence.

• HW Instructions:
  We will be submitting this and all subsequent homework assignments electronically. For each homework problem that requires programming, create a separate file called hwa_b.lsp where a is the assignment number and b is the problem number. Show your work by creating a transcript file called hwa_b.txt. For example, you should create files hw1_1.txt for the first problem on this assignment. To actually turn in your work, execute the shell script in /cs/bin/turnin and give "submit" command, "cs4341", "hw1" and the files you want to submit as arguments. Continuing with our example, you should type

  /cs/bin/turnin submit cs4341 hw1 hw1_1.txt
  

  to turn in the first problem. Or turn in more than one problem at a time, if you like.

  Each file you turn in should include the following information:

  • Name,
  • Course,
  • Assignment and problem number,
  • Description of algorithm and inputs (if appropriate).

• Problems:
  1. Exercise 2.1. Just submit the .txt file.

  2. Exercise 3.2.

  3. Exercise 3.6. You may want to give a list representation of the and-or tree, such as

     (PUT-ON A B
       (AND (GET-SPACE A B
            . . .
     )))
     

     The next two problems ask you to read search.txt and optimize.txt and then run search.exp and optimize.exp using either lisp or gcl. Just watch and understand. You do not have to turn anything in.

  4. Try using the code for search.exp located in /cs/cs4341/ai3.

  5. Try using the code for optimize.exp located in /cs/cs4341/ai3.

  You should turn in files hw1_1.txt, hw1_2.txt, and hw1_3.txt.
