State Per-Capita Contribution of Players to the NFL as a Measure of Sport Interest

A state is shown as "As Expected" if the percentage of players it contributes to the league is the same as the percentage of population it contributes to the U.S. A state showing as "Twice Expected" contributes twice as many players to the league as would be expected based upon its population relative to the whole of the U.S. A state showing as "Half of Expected" contributes half as many players to the league as would be expected based upon its population relative to the whole of the U.S.

Louisiana has the highest per-capita contribution of players. Contributions for Canadian provinces are not shown, but are all at the bottom of the scale.
