My first program was in 1965 (am I tied for third place?) in PDP-7 (I
think) assembly code. I punched my program onto cards. Since the
company I was working for didn't actually own a PDP-7, members of our
team visited the customer site every few weeks to try out the programs
we'd written since the last visit. My program was supposed to read a
set of punched cards and print the contents out on the line printer.
My program didn't load the print buffer correctly, and it printed out
several hundred pages of zeroes before they re-booted the
computer.
I also programmed (in 1966, I think) in BASIC on the first time-sharing
computer, at Dartmouth.
