Outcomes:
  1. Students should be knowledgeable about current and recent serious games in a broad range of application areas, including education, training, health, advertising, political/social issues and research.

  2. Students should be capable of reading and understanding current scientific literature on serious games, including their design and evaluation.

  3. Students should be able to participate effectively as artists, designers or implementors in interdisciplinary teams to develop serious games.


Objectives:
  1. Students will view and discuss in class videos of current and recent serious games in a broad range of application areas.

  2. Students will read and discuss in class selected content from recent articles and books about the development of serious games.

  3. Students will play and discuss 18-20 serious games in a diverse range of application areas.

  4. Each student will play one serious game in depth and then write and present in class a detailed analysis of the game.

  5. Each student will read and participate in class discussion of 12-14 scientific papers on serious games, including their design and evaluation.

  6. Each student will read, present and lead class discussion of a scientific paper on serious games.

  7. Each student will participate in a small team to assess the need for a serious game in an application area of their choice, produce a concept document, and implement a paper or media prototype for the game.
