Introductory Explanation
The old undergraduate Computer Networks course, CS4514, has been replaced by two new courses CS3516 and CS4516
because the current state of computer networking technology no longer fits within a single seven-week course. CS4516 will
provide more depth in several of the topics introduced in CS3516 and put more emphasis on Wireless Local Area Networks,
Wireless Sensor Networks and network security issues.
This course Web page will start as a skeleton structure of the old CS4514 course, but will gradually evolve to the new
CS4516 course. Any updates before August 15, 2009 refer to the old skeleton. Any updates after that date will reflect
planned components of the new course.
Because CS3516 will be taught for the first time in B09 by Professor Claypool, the exact syllabus for CS4516 will
remain fluid until the CS3516 syllabus is solidified.

Programming Assignments
Choosing team partners:
ALL three members MUST send an email to rek indicating that they agree to be a team by Monday, November
10th by 6 p.m.
Those students remaining as 'free agents' will be assigned to teams.
Each team must participate in a REQUIRED 30-minute office hour meeting to discuss their design report
by 5 p.m. on Friday, November 14th.
