Each presentation should last between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on
the depth or nature of your topic. If you feel you need/want more as
you learn about your topic, let me know.
Your presentation should convey the following information:
- What problem is this tool/technique/approach trying to address?
- How does it work? (show either demo or examples, as appropriate)
- What are its strengths and limitations (both related to the
goals, and in the broader context of building computing systems)?
- What is particularly interesting/unusual/helpful/etc about it?
- What further questions does it raise?
You can convey this in whatever order or style you like. You do not
need to present this in the "how to break/how to prevent" style that
I've used in class. Choose whatever style seems most suitable to your
content. I'd be glad to give feedback on presentation outlines in
advance to anyone who asks.
You can use any combination of board, handouts, slides,
laptop, etc.
Be sure to use concrete examples! If you can't
work out an example, you probably don't yet understand the
material well enough yourself. Your goal is to be the class expert on
your topic.
