Making .wav files with SoundBlaster

Sound files of type .wav can be used in a number of applications, (even though they were developed for MS Windows) including Web pages (you refer to them as <A HREF = "http://.../filename.wav">)

They do consume more space than files of type .au. Files of type .au or .mpg are also quite system independent and can be loaded into many applications on most platforms. Files of type .au are lower in quality, but often sufficient for lower quality speakers. We will use the SoundBlaster tools to quickly create a .wav file.

  1. Open SoundBlaster

  2. Open Creative Mixer
  3. Open Wave Studio

  4. Play what you recorded.

  5. When you get used to it, record a 5" message for the class home page.

  6. Save your file as .wav onto my disk and I'll link it to the course page.

  7. Now, explore other Windows applications for making sound files or look at the Web references below.
