Two-Dimensional Animation

Also called cel animation

Consist of flat iamages created one frame at a time

Disney films are cel animation.

While Disney Studio used to draw pictures by hand, now a computer process called "in-betweening" is used.

  1. First the image, say, a ball is drawn.

  2. Then for the movement, a future position is indicated and perhaps a path to follow.

  3. Computer software then calculates and creates the in-between frames.

Once an animation, say of a bouncing ball, is created, it can be moved as a whole.

Macromedia Director is a multimedia presentation package which uses in-betweening and sprites to produce animation.
