Test Methods

Four types of usability tests are:

  1. Formative Evaluation which is done early in a project's design and used to develop the design

  2. Summative Evaluation which is done when a project is completed.

  3. Comparative Evaluation which compares two ways of presenting the same information

  4. Protocol Analysis which asks users to speak aloud their thoughts either while performing a task (concurrent verbalization) or after (retrospective verbalization).
