Machine Learning is a Knowledge Acquisition technique that takes data collected about a problem and uses the computer to generate rules. The data is referred to as a "training set." This technique is especially useful when experts on the problem are unavailable, unwilling, or unable to communicate how they solve problems to the Knowledge Engineer. This method, however, is only as good as the data used. The system is also unlikely to "think" like a human expert would. This can be either an advantage or a disadvantage.
