Surfin’

icon

by Karlen Petrosian and Augusto Almeida

You play as a surfer riding in the ocean, and who has to evade many different obstacles (obstacle itself is a superclass, so new obstacles could be added easily). These include more or less easily destructible trash piles and buoys, sharks that can track the surfer, and (almost) indestructible icebergs. You can move using W and S buttons, and speed up by pressing SPACE. Every second and every time an obstacle is destroyed, you get points. Every 100 points your minimal speed increases. Speed serves as both measurement of how fast game moves, and health system substitute. If you lose too much speed by ramming into something you can’t handle, the surfer will drown. While quickly gaining speed is useful for easily breaking through trash and buoys, you can just as easily ram into an iceberg or get attacked by a shark. There are power ups, which makes the player extremely fast and invincible for short duration.

Futile Fortress

icon

by Freddie Hatch and Mac Sohl

Futile Fortress is a simple single player turn based tactics game with asymmetrical rules. There is a board of square tiles upon which lie Heroes, Enemies, and Obstacles. The Enemies try to get from one side of the board to the other, breaking through walls along the way, while the player spends a set number of actions to move their Heroes, attack enemies, and use special abilities. Enemies continually arrive in randomized waves. If the Enemies reach the end of the board, the game ends, and the player receives a score for how many turns they were able to survive.

Dragonfly Swatter

icon

by Kaiden Zinck and Alex Hardro

Flyswatter is what you get when you mix Duck Hunt and WarioWare. The game features a series of fly-swatting-based minigames, all with the same relative goal: swatting flies! Like Duck Hunt, the player has a reticle in the form of an actual flyswatter, which they use to swat the flies. Like WarioWare, each minigame has a unique goal/mechanics. Maybe you will have to swat smaller, faster flies. Or maybe you will need to swat bigger flies, which take more clicks to kill. As the player beats more rounds, the timer gets shorter, and their win streak goes up. The main goal is to see how high the player can get their win streak. With charming sprites, music, and silly modifiers, swatting flies has never been more satisfying!

OokPik

icon

by Lana Cagle and Jacob Major

OokPik is a roguelike built on our own C++ implementation of the Dragonfly game engine. The game keeps track of the number of seeds collected, moves made, and maps completed across runs, with your goal being to collect the most seeds in the fewest moves across as many maps as possible. Try and get the best score you can, see if you make the top of the leaderboard! The map is randomly generated each level, so no two runs are the same. Have fun!
