Waitlisted?

My policy is not to interfere with the normal waitlist mechanism. The Registrar claims that schoolwide about 90% of waitlisted students get into their class.

I will encourage those who don't show up or who decide to quit early to formally drop the class immediately. If you want to sit in for a few days until some people drop then feel free, but I can't promise that you will get in.

If I am to choose who gets in and who doesn't then I need to compare and contrast everyone's claims to be admitted. I don't have time for that extra task, nor am I prepared to accept that responsibility.

The class is often too large given the way we want to run it, so enlarging it is not an option, as that would weaken the pedagogical experience.
