Overview of Projects

Projects 1, 2 & 4 are to be done individually, while 3 is done in a group.

Project 1:

This project consists of three parts. The first part involves Reverse Engineering a web page, to determine what the Requirements for its design might have been. The second part is to read and comment on some HCI research literature. The third part is to critically evaluate a web-based interface to the WPI Library Catalog.

Project 2:

In this project you test an hypothesis about the impact of color on the reading speed and comprehension for text in an interface, design an experiment to confirm the hypothesis, and do a simple statistical analysis of the results.

Project 3:

This project is done in groups, and requires you to produce and present a design for an interface that supports icon-based communication between people that do not speak each other's languages.

Project 4:

The task in this project is to design and build (using Visual Basic) the key pages for an interface that allows customers to select items for purchase at a warehouse of used books.
