Components

What are the basic components of the system?

e.g., knowledge base, design component, failure handling component, knowledge acquisition component, etc.

Discussion. The components depend to a great extent on the functions required by the problem solving. They define the modularity of the system and the interactions within the system. Virtually all design systems include one or more knowledge bases. The design component is responsible for the development of the design. Failure handling can be dealt with through a separate component capable of detecting the causes of error and of doing redesign. Knowledge acquisition components add knowledge based on necessity or on availability.
