Analysis and Synthesis

On what pattern of analysis and synthesis methods does the system rely?

Discussion. Analysis is used to gather information prior to taking a decision or to starting some kind of process. Design systems use analysis of the requirements and of the available information to decide which strategy would be more suitable. Design agents can rely on evaluation of the result of an analysis of the current situation to apply a conflict resolution strategy or simply to decide what to do next. Synthesis generates new knowledge about the design as a result of some type of reasoning. The new knowledge often abstracts or generalizes a set of previously available facts. Synthesis is characteristic of learning situations as it assumes the creation of previously unavailable knowledge.
