KRELL KAV 280cd CD Player for Sale

KRELL is an American company that makes high end audio equipment: some of the best in the world. They say:

Comments from owners:
"This is the highest of high end I've heard. Previously owned mid-fi CD players, and this is a HUGE improvement over them! Incredible sweet warm detail with no edge in the treble, and 3D soundstage and punch that will lift you out of your seat!" -- "Krell has always made great audio gear, and the KAV 280cd is no exception. It is built to state of the art standards and will last forever." -- "Krell is to be commended for producing this puppy. It is a fantastic sounding unit! The vocals came across better in the Krell. They were more elevated than the Meridian. With the Krell the music goes way beyond the speakers and the instruments are more up front. I have been pursuing this sound for quite a while. Stringed instruments are really "live" sounding. I play guitar, so I know what a guitar should sound like, and Krell produces it quite well. It is especially good at placing all the instruments in their place, causing you to look around, if you sit in the dark and listen like I do!"

The reason for the sale is that I've upgraded to an Esoteric player.

The list price was $3,250. I bought the KAV-280cd for $2,000 (i.e., one owner) from Spearit Sound in Northampton in a "sale" when Krell was about to change to a new model.

This model is currently available for sale Used via the web from Spearit Sound at $1,350 (see their advert below). That's the price that Audiogon reports as the recent average price for this player.

I am asking $1,000, or best offer, as once I removed the player from the equipment shelves I discovered that it has some transformer hum. On the shelf with other equipment, and across the room, with normal home background sounds, I wasnt aware of it. And once it is playing it is hard not to be captivated by the sound quality anyway!

Comes with remote controller, power cord, complete original packaging and documentation.

It is in perfect condition, looks great, is built like a tank, and still sounds very very good.

I'd like to see it go to a good home, perform well, and be fully appreciated!
