Local Information: Audio-Visual Equipment

All of the rooms in which you may be presenting are equipped with a large screen projector (approximately an eight foot image), a VHS VCR connected to the projector, a PC connected to the projector, and an overhead projector. The rooms all support audio from the VCR and the computer. Note that the videotapes written by PAL systems overseas are not compatible with current USA equipment standards (NTSC).

There is a single, very large screen available. An extra, smaller (portable) screen could be installed if needed.

The computers in the rooms will be running Windows 98 and Office 2000 Professional. They will also be equipped with a 3.5" floppy drive, CD-ROM, and a connection to the Internet. To support the connection to the Internet, each computer will have Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, an FTP program, and a telnet application.

The computer in Kinnicutt Hall, the venue for conference sessions, is intended for presentations, and is a Pentium II, 300Mghz with 64megs.

If you chose to bring your own laptop (Mac or PC) for presentation purposes, the projection systems accept a standard HD15 pin VGA-type connection (i.e., 15 pins, 3 rows) for video display. To avoid undue delays between presentations we would strongly encourage you to use the WPI computers provided.

If you need access to the Internet for your presentation, you will need to use the computers provided by WPI as the phone jacks are not usually active and Ethernet cards need to be registered well in advance of gaining connection to WPI's internal network.

If you require more equipment than this, please let us know well in advance of the conference so we can prepare the location for you. If you do have additional requests, such as for a 35mm slide projector, please contact aid00@arch.usyd.edu.au as soon as possible!
