CS 561 Spring 2007.
CS561 "HOMEWORK" #7
Assigned: Thursday, Mar 15, 2007
Due: Thursday, Mar 22, 2007
To do:
-
Read the assigned readings on RFID data management systems.
I have handed out copies in class, and they are also linked
onto our webpage.
-
Prepare one integrated written report on all three readings
to be turned in in the next class meeting.
Given that this is a single critique on three papers,
I would expect that it will be larger in terms of
content and scope than just one page.
-
The goal is to tease out the main points from
the assigned readings.
-
Topics to consider in your critique include:
-
Explain what are the main challenges raised by
RFID data management; divide those into "stream-specific"
and "general (static) data management" challenges.
-
Briefly sketch the one (or at most two) most important
ideas proposed in each of the papers, respectively.
-
We have already discussed general approaches taken
for supporting query processing against dynamic data streams.
Now, in the current set of readings, these data streams
are assumed to be generated via physical devices such as
RFID readers or other such sensor types.
Discuss, what if any, issues specific to devices
such as RFID tags may now arise -- beyond generic
stream processing challenges.
-
Can you think of any research challenges beyond
those tackled in those 3 papers that remain
unsolved to date?
