Read the assigned readings on CACQ system and
ATT's Gigascope system.
I have handed out copies in class, and they are also linked
onto our webpage.
We won't be discussing System S; so reading the linearRoads
benchmark paper is optional.
Prepare one written report on the CACQ document
to be turned in in the next class meeting.
The goal is to tease out the main points from
the assigned readings.
Topics to consider in your critique include:
Explain what are the main techniques proposed in this
work for stream data processing.
What is the key ideas of the proposed architecture,
the data structures and indices, and the algorithms.
Describe each of the key ideas proposed in the paper,
possibly backed up with a small example.
Explain what are the main differences of this
proposed architecture for stream data processing,
compared to the Stanford's STREAM system or
Brown's AURORA system.
What are the short-comings of the proposed techniques,
and and what are advantages?
