General Mathematics Bibliography
- MA Abramowitz and IA Stegun, Handbook
of Mathematical Functions (1965, Dover). This is a useful
compilation of mathematical information, including integrals.
- IS Gradshteyn and IM Ryzhik, Table of Integrals, Series,
and Products, 5th Ed. (1994 Academic
Press), ISBN 0-12-294760-6. Anther widely used book of general
mathematical information.
Transform Bibliography
- RN Bracewell, The
Fourier Transform and Its Applications (1966, McGraw-Hill),
ISBN 0-07-007015-6. This is a good introduction to the properties
of the FT.
- RN Bracewell, The Hartley Transform
(1986 Oxford Univ), ISBN
0-19-503969-6.. Out of Print. This is an excellent book on transforms
in general and the Hartley Transform in particular.
- DE Dudgeon and RM Mersereau, Multidimensional
Digital Signal Processing (1984, Prentice-Hall).
ISBN 0-13-604959-1. A good source for information on how to extend
transform results and methds to multiple dimensions, such as
2D and 3D images.
- JF James, A
Student's Guide to the Fourier Transform (1995, Cambridge
Univ.), ISBN 0-521-46829-9. This is a very short (about 100
pages) introduction to Fourier Transforms. Most of the key properties
are covered.
- WR LePage, Complex Variables and the
Laplace Transform for Engineers (1961, Dover), ISBN 0-486-63926-6.
This book combines complex variable theory with engineering transform
examples. It is an excellent book for understanding how transforms,
as a class, work.
- A Papoulis, The
Fourier Integral and its's Applications (1962, McGraw-Hill)
, ISBN 0-07-048447-3. This is a condensed but classical introductory
book about the Fourier transform.

(1962, McGraw-Hill)
, ISBN 0-07-048447-3. This is a dense, complete book about the
general process of signal procesing.
Image Processing Bibliography
- RE Blahut, Fast Algorithms for Digital
Signal Processing (1985, Addison-Wesley),
ISBN 0-201-10155-6. This is a good introduction, with examples,
of how to develop and code algorithms to speed up signal processing
(including image processing) operations.
- RN Bracewell, Two-Dimensional
Imaging (1995, Prentice-Hall),
ISBN 0-13-062621-X. This is an introductory book about 2D transform
theory and how to apply it to images.
Utility Image Analysis Software
