Microbenchmarks (many come from the lmbench (mcvoy:usenix96) test suite):

• Null---counter access latency

• Syscall---minimum system call latency

• Exec---latency to load and run a trivial program

• Memory access time---access time for arrays of various sizes

• fs---a suite of file system performance tests

• bitblt---graphics benchmark

• netbw---network throughput test
