How to Succeed in CS 100x

Students' Advice

The following is a list of all responses to the question "What strategy would you advise a friend to use to benefit from this course?" from the CS 100x A 98 Student Course Evaluations.

Do the homework, it's helpful and actually pretty fun.
Use the notes on the web; very useful tool for assignments.
Practice a lot of programming in your own time to really learn java.
Read the book!
Don't get laid off from your full-time job in the middle of the term. Don't drink a "kick in the pants" from the Bean Counter before a test. Start working on your homework early.
Know JAVA already!
Do homework early.
Read the material in the book and most importantly do the homework. Go to all classes and labs.
Study!
The book and labs are very helpful.
Work hard. Don't get discouraged. Keep an open mind and get help.
Do the homework early. Ask questions if you have a problem -- the prof and TA are very willing to help.
Make sure you know how to program when you come into the course and keep up with the reading.
Don't miss classes and spend a lot of time on homework.
Have a lot of programming background!
