CS 1005 - Academic Honesty Policy

• You are encouraged to discuss homework problems and lab assignments with your classmates, however, you are required to submit your own solution for each assignment. It will be considered cheating when more than one person jointly develop and write a program. Submission of modified versions of other peoples' work as your own is considered cheating.

  You must explicitly acknowledge any sources of ideas that are not your own. You must include in the References section of your homework documentation one of the following statements:

       I did not receive any outside assistance on this problem.

  or

       I received assistance on this problem from the following sources:
         source1
         source2
         etc.
  

  Sources of outside assistance include, but are not limited to, friends and other students, whether in the class or not, other teachers, textbooks other than the ones used for this class, bulletin boards, newsgroups, websites other than CS 1005, and technical articles. You may certainly continue to use outside assistance, and in fact, you are encouraged to help each other out.

  Note that the course staff, including the instructors, teaching assistants, and M*A*S*H leaders, are not considered outside assistance. Course materials, including the textbook and the course website are also not considered outside assistance. Do not list these sources.

  HW submitted with neither comment will incur a substantial penalty.

• Exams and quizzes are to be done individually.

Cheating will not be tolerated. Violations of the Academic Honesty Policy may result in an NR for the course, and violators will be subject to the procedures outlined in section 5 of the WPI Judicial Policy.
