Dariuz Kazemi

Abstract

Kazemi will discuss a grab bag of topics: life at a large game company, the importance of the QA process, and the role of metrics and data analysis in game balance. The underlying theme between these disparate parts will concern how his WPI education factors in to his role as a professional game developer.

Bio

Darius Kazemi (ECE '05) has his fingers in many pies. By day, he is a data analyst for a large, Boston-area game company, where he deals with a massive data set of recorded player behavior for a triple-A title. He analyzes this data to learn about what players are doing, and to predict what they will do in the future. He is active with the Serious Games Initiative, and gave a talk at the 2006 Game Developers Conference on the "brain training" game phenomenon. His article, "Effective Networking in the Games Industry," is being published in the May issue of Game Developer Magazine. And he credits the WPI Game Development Club for a lot of this.
