Data Visualization Book

The CS department is happy to report that Prof Matt Ward has recently published the book "Interactive Data Visualization: Foundations, Techniques, and Applications". The authors are Matt Ward, Georges Grinstein, and Daniel Keim. This is the first book in the data visualization field designed specifically as a textbook. The publisher is A.K. Peters.

Prof Ward has been an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics since 2006. Prof Grinstein is in the department of Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and is the head of the Bioinformatics Program. Prof Keim is head of the Information and Visualization and Data Analysis Research Group at the University of Konstanz, Germany.

Prof Ward has also been selected as the keynote speaker for the prestigious 2010 European Visualization Conference (EuroVis), to be held in Bordeaux, France June 8-11. He will speak about "Challenges, Partial Solutions, and Open Problems in Multivariate Data Visualization".
