RATIONALE "Birmingham, MICON/M1" A. P. Gupta, W. P. Birmingham & D. P. Siewiorek, Automating the Design of Computer Systems. IEEE Trans. on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems, Vol. 12, No. 4, April 1993, pp. 473-487. The MICON system configures small computers. It uses many of the concepts about configuration already introduced, but adds the idea that logical configuration (i.e., the components and their connections) can be done at the same time as physical configuration (i.e., how things will actually be laid out in space), using templates. Look for function-subfunction hierarchies, and an AND/OR organization.
