RATIONALE "M. Klein, conflict resolution" M. Klein, Supporting Conflict Resolution in Cooperative Design Systems. IEEE Trans. on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, Vol. 21, No. 6, Nov/Dec 1991, pp. 1379-1390. This research is important because it attempts to generalize failure recognition and repair selection. Characteristics of the failure situation are classified, then that class is mapped to a corresponding class of repair strategy. The repair is then instantiated by taking details of the failure into account. The work is presented in the context of a multi-agent design system. Klein's hypothesises is that there is a class hierarchy of types of failures/conflicts, moving from domain independent down to domain dependent.
