RATIONAL "Bowen, constraint satisfaction" J. Bowen & D. Bahler, Supporting Multiple Perspectives: A Constraint-Based Approach to Concurrent Engineering. In: Artificial Intelligence in Design '92, (Ed) J. S. Gero, Kluwer Academic Publishers, pp. 85-96. This paper has been included because it demonstrates that constraints can be used to check designs, and to enforce relationships between different "stakeholders" in a design process (i.e., not just produce values for variables). It also raises issues concerning design teams, especially those with members that that have different perspectives and therefore different goals: this hints at change propagation and the need for various kinds of "failure handing" including negotiation.
