What
every software engineer should know to be Successful in the
technology business. Robert Martin Co-founder Banyan Systems Co-founder Sofware.com Friday, December 11th,
2009 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Fuller Labs 320 Abstract: As a software engineer, we face many
choices. LAMP or Microsoft? How to approach this project? Is this project really that important? Who
should work on this team with me?
Should I work for this company? How do I start my own business? These decisions impact our career, our
success and failures, our personal wealth, and our happiness. This talk will focus on the important
lessons learned in a 30-year career working in highly innovative, successful
and unsuccessful software companies. The talk will be more focused on
strategies, both personal and profession, than on technology. It will benefit any engineer embarking on a
career. _______ Robert
Martin is a senior software executive with over 30 years’ experience in
