Faculty Responsibilities for Accreditation

  1. For each undergraduate course you teach, collect:

    • A hard copy of syllabus, schedule, all handouts, all assignments, all exams, and (any other) Website pages. Your TAs can do the collection, but you need to make sure they do it!

    • For each assignment, homework, or exam:
      • Collect copies of the work of six students
(2 with excellent work, 2 with average work, 2 with poor work)
        - clearly labelled by type and quality.
      • Make sure that original copies of project descriptions and exams are included, not just student answers.
      • You dont need to include huge program listings.
      • Remove the names of students from the copies.
      • Make sure that original copies of project descriptions and exams are included, not just student answers.

    • Separate each part into a different manilla folder, labelled with the course number and what course it is.
        e.g., General Information; Course Notes; Project 1; Project 2; Exam 1; Project 3; Project 4; Exam 2

    • Give it all material to Chris Caron for filing.

    • Make sure that webmaster@cs has the URL for your course.

  2. Each Course Coordinator completes...

    • The Course Description template needs to be filled out.

    • Completing the course outcomes worksheet will be helpful when completing the Course Description template. Note that a version of the worksheet should appear in the web pages for the latest version of the course.

This should include a list of student outcomes for the course (students should be able to X), the CS Departmental Outcomes to which the course outcomes contribute, and a list of student work that could be used to assess whether the student outcomes for the course have been met. See the OLD sample course outcomes (3041 & 4431) and the list of CS Departmental Outcomes.

    • ASAP: email <dcb@cs.wpi.edu> a list of the CS Departmental Outcomes to which your course contributes.
      e.g., "CS 3041 contributes to Dept.Outcomes
      6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21"
It's vital that this list be correct.
